AFJROTC Mission:
To develop citizens of character dedicated to serving their nation and community
MI-20141 Mission:
To benefit our school, local community, and nation while promoting a sense of community within the unit.
About Us:
Howell established our Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps in 2014. Currently we have 94 cadets in our program. For the A-B-C schedule Mrs. Reinhart and Senior Master Sergeant Reinhart split the class in half to learn both courses of the year. Cadets are taught by Senior Master Sergeant Reinhart in Leadership Education 100 and Drill. Cadets are taught by Mrs. Reinhart in The Science of Flight which goes in depth on the science of aircraft and how they function. On the A-B-C schedule the cadets alternate Blues and ABUs weekly. Cadets with AFJROTC on "A" Days wear their uniform on Monday and cadets with AFJROTC on "B" Days will wear the uniform on Tuesday. All uniforms are issued in the beginning of the year that must be taken care of and worn on each uniform day. Fridays( B Day cadets) and Thursdays (A Day cadets) are spent in the field house biweekly for PT (Physical Training). PT consists of warm ups, then a workout normally followed by a game.
AFJROTC is not just about in-class instruction. In this program, cadets put in on average about 13 hours of community service. We also have quite a few co-curricular activities inside of AFJROTC, such as Drill, CyberPatriot, Cadet Challenge, StellarXplorers, and Raiders. In addition to co-curriculars and community service, cadets also get the opportunity to participate in many events within our program like our Combat Dining-In, Bataan Death March, and Military Ball. We even have a tutoring program, Kitty Hawk Air Society (KHAS) led BY cadets FOR cadets. All community service, co-curriculars, and events are led by cadets and are held outside of the school day.
AFJROTC is a program built on the foundation of Integrity First, Service Before Self, and Excellence In All We Do. We strive to develop a sense of responsibility and character in our cadets and to provide them with the opportunities to improve their leadership skills. For their hard work, cadets can earn ranks, promotions, awards, and staff and leadership positions.
We are a family here in MI-20141, and we'd love for you to be apart of it.
